By using dirty tactics in stopping the reversal of Pervez Musharraf's unconstitutional and illegal acts of November 3, 2007, the leadership of the PPP has not only thoroughly exposed itself but has also irreparably harmed the party's reputation. PPP leaders had secret contacts with Pervez Musharraf facilitated his 're-election' as a quid pro quo for dropping corruption cases against them. Now they are working actively to block the path of the constitutional government and rule of law. Lacking political wisdom and vision, and any real sense of commitment to the people, they are only interested in advancing their personal interests. Sadly, no one in the PPP is brave enough to speak out against their shenanigans that have caused tremendous damage to the party. -AFZAL SIDDIQI, Rawalpindi, via e-mail, April 27.
