BAHAWALNAGAR
PML-N won two of the four National Assembly seats while five of eight Provincial Assembly, making its position strong in the district.
According to official figures in NA-188 Syed Asghar Shah (Independent) won by bagging 90,361 votes while Akhtar Husain Khadim of PML-N remained runner-up with 88,027 votes. The turnout in the constituency remained 68 percent. In NA-189 PML-N’s Alamdad Laleka scored a landslide victory by bagging 94,464 votes against his rival of PTI’s Mumtaz Matiana who got 46,795 votes. The turnout in NA-189 remained 60 percent.
Similarly NA-190 was clinched by PML-N candidate Tahir Bashir Cheema with 82,618 votes while PML-Z’s President Ijazul Haq remained runner-up with 48,250 votes. Turnout in this constituency remained 61 percent. On the other hand, in NA-191 PML-Z President Ijazul Haq knocked out his opponent PML-N candidate Mian Abdul Rasheed by getting 79,221 votes. Turnout in NA-191 remained 64.77 percent.
In the Provincial Assembly constituency PP-277 PML-N’s Fida Hussain emerged victorious with 46,981 votes while independent candidate Tariq Usman Gadhoka remained runner-up with 42,658 votes. Turnout in PP-277 remained 70 percent.
PP-278 was also bagged by PML-N’s Shaukat Ali Laleka with 38,638 votes while his rival independent candidate Syed Nazar Mehmood Shah remained runner-up with 28,289 votes. The PML-N also won PP-279 as its candidate Rana Abdul Rauf bagged 44,344 votes. While Ahmad Nadeem Zaman of PTI remained runner-up with 20231 votes, PP-280 was by PTI’s Mumtaz Moharvi with a narrow margin as he bagged 17,534 votes while PML-N’s Sajjad Jathol bagged 16160 votes and remained runner-up. In PP-281 PML-N’s candidate Ihsanul Haq Bajwa scored a convincing victory with 36,923 votes, while Sikandar Fayyaz Bhadera of PTI remained second with 20,561 votes. In PP-282 PML-N’s Zahid Akram won with 36,252 votes while Mian Abdul Wahid of PML-Z remained runner-up with 23,861 votes.
However, PP-283 was won by PML-Z candidate Ghulam Murtaza by bagging 43,262 votes while PML-N’s Ashraful Islam remained runner-up with 34,970 votes.
It is to be noted that former deputy opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Shaukat Basra bagged only 11,503 votes from PP-283. In PP-284 Naeem Anwar of PML-Z won by getting 26,665 votes, while PPPP’s Kashif Pansota bagged 25903 votes and suffered defeat with a narrow margin.
