Pakistan Air Force up-graded the Shehbaz Air Base, Jacobabad a few years back. With up gradation of this air base, a new garrison city sprung up around it; this is in close proximity to the old town, which was populated by the down trodden segment of society. The development in human or material sources is always a welcome move but no thought was given to ensure equitable transfer of benefit of development to the local people. Though thousands of workers have been employed, from labourers to high-tech technicians; from teachers to doctors; from vendors to commercial merchants but hardly anyone local is seen working in the Air Force Base. This disparity should have been avoided.

The uproar of jets keeps the denizens awake all night, as the air base is located along the main town, hence during takeoff and landing the noise become intolerable. Through this letter I would like to invite the attention of Air Chief to look into the possibility of accommodating local people according to their share in the jobs in the air base; in the education and health facilities being provided at there. Secondly a study should be carried out as how to minimise disturbance.
