PTI’s Swati wins Senate seat from KP

PESHAWAR - PTI candidate Azam Swati has clinched Senate seat fallen vacant due to the death of ANP Senator Azam Khan Hoti by obtaining majority votes of the members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
Hoti obtained 71 votes against 41 of the JUI-F candidate Haji Ghulam Ali. Six votes were declared invalid out of which 4 were polled in favour of Swati while the rest for Ghulam Ali. Talking to media, Swati expressed gratitude to PTI leaders for awarding party ticket and his election to the upper house of parliament. He was also thankful to members of the provincial assembly for casting their votes in his favour. On this occasion, Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser said that the polling for by-election of Senate seat was held in a pleasant environment. He congratulated the senator-elect Swati.
Meanwhile, talking to the media, Haji Ghulam Ali said for first time Senate election was held in a good and cordial environment and expressed the hope that this precedence will be followed in future too.
