Tipu made Pemra acting chief

ISLAMABAD - The federal government on Wednesday appointed the Executive Member of Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) Kamal-ul-Din Tipu as the acting head of the authority, sources said.
Tipu, a member of police group who was promoted to grade 20 last week, would replace Pervaiz Rathore, says a notification of the Establishment Division.
Last week the Federal Ministry of Information had moved a summary for the appointment of Tipu after Rathore reached the age of superannuation on May 8.
Rathore was also acting chairman of the authority. He was appointed in June 2014 and his tenure was full of controversies.
The sources said that the government was not interested to appoint a permanent chairman PEMRA.
They said that the ministry did not advertise the post after retirement of Rathore and instead moved a summary to president for appointment of another acting chairman.
The president of Pakistan, the appointing authority of chairman of PEMRA, approved Tipu’s summary as new acting chairman.
