RAWALPINDI - Punjab govt has formed committees at district level with the mandate to protect rights of sugarcane growers and ensure transparent selling and purchase of the yield. The District Sugarcane Purchase Monitoring and Examining Committees have been set up across province with an aim to make the crushing season transparent and beneficial for farmers, sources in the Punjab Food Dept told APP here. They said the sugarcane growers have been advised to contact their respective Divisional Commissioner, DCO or Addl Sugarcane Commissioner, if they have any complaint against mill owners.

A complaint cell will be working from 08:00am to 04:00pm during working days at the Punjab Food Department.
