LAHORE – The PCB Inter-Region U-19 One-day Tournament match between Karachi (B) and Sialkot was abandoned due to sudden landing of Zulfikar Khosa’s helipad at the Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala, a private TV channel reported on Tuesday.

The match between the two teams was underway as Karachi (B) U-19 earlier, batting first, scored 139 runs in 35.2 overs. When in reply, Sialkot Region U-19 was batting on 43 for the loss of one wicket in 10 overs, an information of sudden landing of Zulfikar Khosa’s helipad was received due to which the match was abandoned while the PCB, in its press release, stated the match result as ‘no result’. Similar incident had also happened sometime back when a sudden landing of a minister’s helicopter had forced abandonment of a cricket match. Such political activates are proving very harmful for domestic cricket which is already facing a lot of problems and with such incidents, cricket instead of getting improved will further go down towards decline.

The PCB chief should take this issue to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, who is also Patron-in-chief of the board, to ensure no such incident should happen in future.
