BAHAWALPUR - DCO Dr Naeem Rauf has imposed Section 144 across the district to ensure law and order in Muharram.According to details, exhibition of all type of weapons, opening of shops falling on the routes of Muharram processions, gathering and watching of procession from rooftops will be prohibited.Similarly printing, distribution and sticking of sectarian literature like posters, pamphlets and wall chalking will also be prohibited besides provocative slogans and sectarian speeches.Similarly, pillion riding on 9th and 10th of Muharram will also be banned. These restrictions shall be enforced from the 1st of Muharram till 12th of the month. Meanwhile, DPO Sohail Habib Tajik said that all security arrangements had been finalised for the holy month and all-out resources would be utilised for the security of Muharram processions and Majalis.He pointed out that 247 processions and 558 Majalis would be held during the Ashura-e-Muharram across the district, adding that of these 35 processions and 20 Majalis had been declared as sensitive.DPO Tajik said that gagging orders for 33 religious scholars had been issued while the entry of 40 clerics from different schools of thought had been banned in the district to ensure peace in Muharram.Similarly, 2,032 personnel including officers of the District Police, 900 national volunteers, 1,600 jawans from Additional Force, 4 Platoons of Rangers, 10 platoons of the Punjab Constabulary and 20 teams of Elite Force will maintain law and order in the district during the month of Muharram.
