Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said all possible security measures have been taken to ensure fool-proof security during Muharram ul Haram in the province.

He was talking to newsmen after visiting Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate here on Thursday afternoon‚ from where the main shabeeh-e-zuljinnah procession of Ashura will be taken out near midnight tonight.

“No one will take part in the [Ashura] processions without being checked first,” said Law Minister Rana Sanaullah. He had stated earlier that the government will make sure security at processions is “fool-proof”.

The army has also been put on standby. Cellular services have been suspended in Karachi, Faisalabad and partly in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.

Sanaullah said the suspended mobile phone service will be restored at 6.00 p.m. in Lahore while it will remain closed from 10.00 a.m. till midnight tomorrow.
