KARAK - A sixty-year-old father on Wednesday tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire outside the premises of district courts Karak to protest unemployment of his sons. The old man was shifted to Women and Children Hospital in a very precarious condition.

Shah Muhammad, resident of Shadokhel, tehsil Takht-e-Nusrati, whose educated sons are unemployed, came to district courts in the morning with the intention of self-immolation. He said that his sons have submitted applications everywhere for jobs but “here is no justice to provide jobs to the educated youth without any reference or bribe”.

The disappointed old man said he could not bear the financial burden of his family any more and appealed to Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak to provide jobs to his unemployed youth such as his sons, otherwise a lot of people like him would commit suicide.

He also demanded abolishing the culture of corruption and bribe in the country and added that a transparent culture of merit should be adopted to provide equal chances of employment to youth. After some time, the old man sprinkle petrol and set himself on fire. The people present there tried to extinguish fire, but the old man suffered serious burns. He was immediately shifted to the hospital in Karak for treatment but the doctors stated his condition was extremely serious and he was referred to Peshawar for further treatment.
