Security costing farmers dear

SADIQABAD
The Anjuman Kashtakaraan Punjab vice president has launched a broadside at police against the way they are making security arrangements during the present month of Muharram.
Ch Muhammad Yaseen, the farmers’ leader, alleged that the police had started a drive to seize bikes and tractor-trolleys to be used for traffic blockades so as to provide security for Muharram activities such as mourning processions and Majalis. He detailed that whenever such vehicles transport cotton or fertilisers from rural areas to cities, the police seize the same for security purpose.
He said that because of the tractor-trolleys’ forcible seizures by the police, the wheat cultivation was being suffered and on the other, the process of transportation of cotton has also come to a halt. He demanded early release of the seized vehicles.
