ISLAMABAD- Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has constituted a Committee to finalize proposals for settlement of the issue of gas shortage for textile industry in Punjab during winter months.

The committee will be headed by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar. Other members of the Committee include Ministers for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif; Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Textile Industry Abbas Khan Afridi.

In addition, representatives of textile industry identified by government of Punjab would also be included in the committee along with any other member co-opted by the Chair. The Committee has been tasked to propose mechanisms for sustainable gas supply to textile industry of Punjab in winter, for addressing low pressure of gas and for resolution of any other relevant issue.

The Committee shall initiate work immediately and submit its report on urgent basis.
