We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence of the good people. The words of Martin Luther are reminiscent of the public receptivity to the murder at Kot Radha Kishan. Such is the pervasive nature of terrorism that it closes all doors to human rationality and dignity. Whether it be a carnage, due to a bomb blast, or holding men hostage, manipulation of human life is easy. The collective psyche of the society seems perturbed by the heart wrenching accounts from Kot Radha Kishan but the intelligentsia and intellectuals are too frightened to speak out.

Had the government taken adequate steps to ensure the supremacy of law, proper dispensation of justice and strict enforcement of penalties for criminals, no one would have dared take the law into their own hands. No mob has the right to take law into its own hands, this action has shaken the foundation of this country and what we deem as a democratic state. There is urgent need for the state to come forward with all its might to ensuring the proper working of judiciary, police and local administration, so that human dignity, peace and security is restored and people have confidence in the system.
