BUREWALA - A female patient was gang raped by three employees of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Burewala and their accomplices.

The hospital authorities suspended the accused after an inquiry report.

Abdul Rehman, a rickshaw driver of Saddam Town, along with his wife Nazia Tabassum, visited the THQ Hospital for immunisation of their baby. Later, they went to the laboratory to get her blood tested where the staff sent Abdul Rehman for getting a receipt. When he returned, he found her wife missing while his baby was lying on a bench. He continued search but could not find her. Later, he reported the matter to Model Town police station. Meanwhile, she was found lying unconscious in a room at outdoor of THQ Hospital, he said.

Abdul Rehman took her to their home and didn’t inform anybody nor did provide any kind of medical aid to her. After getting somewhat well, the victim said that an employee of the hospital, Mohsin, had administered her an injection and as a result, she fell unconscious. She alleged Mohsin along with his four accomplices including Maqbool Ahmed and Muhammad Ramzan gang raped her in the OPD.

On November 12, they approached the medical superintendent and told him about the incident. He brought the matter into the police notice and the police registered a case against the accused.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and ordered the police to submit a report of the incident.  On the other side, the executive district officer health of Vehari has suspended the three employees for their allegedly committing rape. The medical superintendent reported the matter to the higher authorities and suggested suspension of the accused. Earlier, Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Akram had said that as per the report, action would be taken against the employees. He added that the accused would be sent for DNA tests.

After the case registration, two employees Maqbool Ahmad and Muhammad Ramzan have got pre-arrest bail from the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Burewala. Abdul Rehman, husband of the victim, has refused to accept the medico-legal certificate of her wife as correct. He suspected that the doctor had changed the samples, and demanded fresh examination under the District Medical Board.


Staff Reporter from Multan adds: A spiritual healer has allegedly raped a housewife and her young daughter under the guise of ridding them of witches in village Kotli Loharaan-West, Sialkot tehsil.

Saleema and her daughter Nazia repeatedly visited ‘Peer’ Liaqat Ali at his house for spiritual treatment. On the day of the incident, he told them that now their remaining spiritual treatment would be done at their home. The accused reached there and raped them, saying them that the sinful act was vital to curb the menace of the hidden powers.

 He had claimed that the hidden powers had overpowered them, the victims said. Later, he assured, the victims that now the witches would never tease them after the treatment. The woman and her daughter told police that the accused had extorted Rs150,000 in cash from them in the name of their spiritual treatment.
