KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that all resources should be mobilized to make polio campaigns effective and no child should be deprived of administrating polio drops.

This he said while presiding over a meeting in Secretary Health office on Friday. Secretary Health Dr. Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, Special Secretary Health Dr. Riaz Memon and PD EPI, Dr. Agha Ashfaq Pathan also attended the meeting.

He directed Secretary Health to manage transportation and security arrangements for polio teams in fool proof manner. In the meeting Minister for Health was told that during first three days of polio campaign in Sindh approximately six million children were vaccinated and almost the target was achieved.

He was also informed that in Karachi in first phase of the drive against polio approximately one million children had been administered polio drops and in second phase which was going to be started from 13th November to 16th Novemberdistrict Korangi, South, Malir, and some parts of district East would be covered and approximately one million children would be vaccinated.

Dahar appreciated the security arrangements and he was also informed that for security plan for phase 2 the services of 3000 Police personnel were hired and in Korangi 871 polio teams, in Malir 612 polio teams, in South 801 polio teams would perform their duties under cover of Police protection and Rangers personnel had also been asked to increase their patrolling in those areas where polio campaign was going on. Dahar expressed his commitment that Sindh Government would make the province a polio free province.
