National leaders shower praise on Jahangir Badar

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, former president and Co-Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other leaders expressed grief over death of PPP stalwart Jehengir Badar.

Political leaders paid rich tribute to Jahangir Badar over his services in national politics.

Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq and Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, Opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah, PTI Chairman Imran Khan also expressed condolence to the bereaved family.

Bilawal voiced his grief at the demise of Jahangir Badar over micro-blogging website. Paying glowing tribute to Badar, former President Zardari said the deceased PPP leader put up a tough fight against dictatorship and continued his struggle for the PPP and democracy.

Bakhtawar Bhutto and Asifa Bhutto were also of the same view that Badar never flinched back vis-à-vis dictatorship. Shahbaz Sharif termed Badar as a resolute political worker. PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique praised Badar as the brave leader of middle class.

Imran Khan said that the country lost a great political worker. Dr Farooq Sattar said the national politics is bereft of a towering personality.

Meanwhile, PPP has called a high-level party meeting on Tuesday in Dubai to discuss inquiries into Panama leaks and news gate scandal. All the top leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party is in Dubai to participate in the meeting.

According to reports, the session would have been attended by the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto and senior party leaders from all four provinces. Reports said that Panama papers, security leaks, and organizational matters of the party were topics of the meeting.

The meeting comes as a backdrop of PPP opposing the formation of an inquiry commission for investigating the Panama Leaks that revealed offshore holdings of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family.
