FM eliminates possibility of Aasia’s departure

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday ruled out possibility of Aasia Bibi’s leaving the country before the Supreme Court ruling on review petition.

The foreign minister was of the view that how she can leave the country when a review petition against the Supreme Court ruling in the blasphemy case against her is pending. He was speaking to the media after attending a meeting of the standing committee on foreign affairs.

Qureshi said he briefed the committee members on the PTI government’s foreign policy. The participants of the meeting strongly condemned atrocities being committed by the Indian security forces in Indian occupied Kashmir.

The foreign minister said that the committee members were taken into confidence on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visits to China and Saudi Arabia and Pakistan’s bilateral relations with India and Afghanistan.

Responding a question regarding Pak-India relations, the foreign minister said there will be not development in Pak-India dialogue until the general elections in India.

Pakistan’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir was also raised in the recently held United Nations General Assembly session. He said Pakistan will also hold a conference on international report on Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan will present its point of view on Jammu and Kashmir in the conference.

He maintained that Aasia Bibi was in Pakistan. He, however, avoided to further comment on her, adding that the review petition is the court so it would not be good to comment. He, however, said how she can leave the court without the Supreme Court decision on review petition.
