The service card of Pakistani police superintendent Tahir Khan Dawar, who was declared missing from Islamabad last month, was found along with a body, Afghan government confirmed on Wednesday.
According to an official press release from the Foreign Office, the Afghan Foreign Affairs Ministry informed the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul that locals found a body in Dur Baba district of Nangarhar province on Tuesday.
“The Afghan side has confirmed that the service card of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Superintendent Tahir Khan Dawar has been recovered with the body,” the press statement said.
It is still not confirmed if the body was of the missing police officer, but the statement further said that after its hand over to the local police, the body was brought to Mohmand Dara district and was being transferred to Jalalabad by the Afghan authorities.
The SP was declared missing from Islamabad on October 27 and speculation over the fate of the missing officer mounted on Tuesday when pictures of a dead body found in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province started circulating on social media platforms.
