Peshawar - The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Department of Psychology, University of Peshawar (UoP) to collaborate and coordinate efforts that will help improve the mental health and psychological behaviours of students, faculty member and officials of UET Peshawar.
Prof Dr Muhammad Idrees, Vice Chancellor, UoP Peshawar, and Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor UET signed the memorandum of understanding. According to MoU, both parties will share common interest and goal in reducing stress of the students and staff. Both the UET Peshawar and Psychology department agreed to assume the respective responsibilities.
Prof. Dr. Idrees, while addressing the ceremony, said the memorandum of understanding would lead to exchange collaboration in joint projects.
He expressed his belief that academic collaboration can make an important contribution to enhancing higher education in countries like Pakistan if it is developed and delivered responsibly and effectively.
Prof Dr Iftikhar said that this collaboration will help psychological counseling of students with anticipation that it will cope with school or community-related violence, accidents, and trauma.
Prof Dr Erum Irshad, Chairperson Department of Psychology and focal person of the project said that we will provide psychological counselling and psychotherapy services to the students, faculty members as it is a marvellous way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties.
Also it can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing.
