The recently appointed chairman of the PCB, Ijaz Butt, is being flooded with advice from all quarters ranging from former test cricketers to those who write regularly on cricket to armchair critics and, finally, by those who played cricket in their backyards. I pity Mr. Butt for it is very difficult to sift between advice of the self-serving and those who genuinely want to help. In any case, gratuitous advice is seldom helpful. But even as I write, I am guilty of the same offence as others. So I will be brief and simply suggest that Mr Butt should read all that is being written and hear all that is being said but do only what is in the best interest of Pakistan cricket. -PARVEZ MASUD, Lahore, October 13.
