LAHORE Pakistans Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his doubles partner Rohan Bopanna of India prevailed over Mark Knowles of Bahamas and Kohlschreiber of Germany in the ATP Masters Championship in Shanghai on Wednesday. The Indo-Pak Express had a slow start as they were playing their first match together after a gap of four weeks since the US Open Championship. Rohan started the serve a bit sluggishly for the duo, after winning the toss, were broken in the very first service game. This lead was, however, neutralised by them when they succeeded to break mark Knowles service at 3-4 to level it 4-4. Here, they were again a break point down but managed to save it to make it 5-4. At 6-6, the tie break started in which the duo got a mini break advantage but were soon deprived of the same. They were again a break up and got a set point at 4-6 but Kohschreiber successfully saved it to make it 5-6. At this point, a missed volley by Rohan caused a level back to 6-6 in the tie break and then an ace by Aisam helped them make it 7-6 tie break. While Knowles saved next point to make it 7-7, he hit a double fault to make it 8-7 in the favour of Indo-Pak Express. Here, a beautiful serve by Rohan complimented by an excellent finishing volley by Aisam on the return finished the set in favour of the duo. Having bagged the first set, the Indo-Pak duo got really charged up and lifted their game to a far more superior level. They broke their opponents on their second serve to take a 2-1 lead and then again broke them at 2-4 to take a 5-2 advantage.
