Leopards register narrow win against Quetta Bears

LAHORE Islamabad Leopard faced tough resistance from Quetta Bears in their four-run win in the Faysal Bank Twenty20 Cup here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday. Islamabad sneaked to 149 for seven mainly due to the 40-ball 45 from Raheel Majeed. Umair Khan (27), Naeem Anjum (24) swelled the total to give tough time to Quetta. The only bowler, who contained the Leopards within their domain, was Jalat Khan who grabbed four wickets for 22 runs. In reply, Bears fought bravely and reached 145, just three runs shot of win. It was Shoaib Khan who laid a solid foundation for Quetta with his 45-ball 66 and Bismallah Khan made 29. Shaoib Akhtar snared two wickets for 26 runs. Lahore Lions grab easy win Lahore Lions grabbed an easy 36-run win over Peshawar Panthers in the late night Faysal Bank Twenty20 Cup here at the Gaddafi Stadium. Openers Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad imposed a challenging total for Panthers with their aggression and flare with the bat. Put into bat, Lahore saw their openers lay a solid base of 113 runs in just 11.2 overs that took the total to 206. Jamshed smashed eight fours and two sixes in his 79 while Shehzads innings was studded with six fours and one six. Later, Umar Akmal started the run flow where the openers left and in his typically style, produced 52 with the help of eight. Peshawar, in their reply, failed to emulate the start provided by the Lahore openers with the first wicket falling on 16. The Lahore bowlers struck at regular intervals while there were contributions that promised much, the highest, unfortunately for Peshawar, was 35 from Zohaib Khan at no 8. Wahab Riaz shone with the ball for Lahore with taking three for 15 as Peshawar folded for 170.
