LAHORE - The Lahore High Court through an interim order Wednesday stayed termination of at least 62 district law officers including prosecutors and deputy prosecutors and issued notice to the Punjab government for October 19. Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed while hearing the petition of the law officers, also restrained the government from withdrawing their perks and privileges. The officers challenged their removal pleading that the government had not adopted any legal course while terminating their services. They said they also passed examination conducted for their continuation of jobs but the government removed them from the service without giving any cogent reason. They prayed that the notification about their removal be set aside and the government be directed to reinstate their services immediately.
