The law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to deteriorate with the hour. The law enforcement agencies and provincial government have desperately failed to respond to this deteriorating situation. This is proved by the abnormal rise in the kidnapping of notable and rich individuals. Recent days have witnessed the kidnapping of Dr. Intikhab Alam, a noted physician of Peshawar. This has triggered protests and all the doctors of public sector hospitals have started a two-hour strike on daily basis owing to the kidnapping of their colleague. This is adversely affecting the patients visiting hospitals as majority of them comes from far off areas. The Government has miserably failed in ensuring the peoples security. In fact, besides doctors, other prominent individuals have also been kidnapped. Recent years have witnessed kidnapping of notable businessmen, industrialists and traders for ransom. The Government of KP has also failed to deliver. These incidents are a question mark on their performance. Last year the vice-chancellor of Kohat University of Science and Technology, was kidnapped and was later set free. Unless the Government ensures proper security for educationists, physicians and businessmen and most importantly the common citizens, its credibility will not improve.
