Diplomatic activities being monitored, says Malik

ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Rehman Malik Thursday said that diplomatic activities were being monitored as part of the Interior Ministrys efforts to ensure peace in the federal capital, adding that major terror attacks in Islamabads Red Zone as well as at ISI Headquarters had been foiled by the law enforcement agencies. He while talking to media persons outside the Parliament House informed that no one would be allowed to build a bunker outside the embassys building. He was referring to media reports regarding building a bunker by the US embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave. The minister further said that as a result of strict security measures in Islamabad Capital territory (ICT), some major terrorists plots had been foiled as large number of arms and ammunitions had been seized during different raids in the capital including in a house at Chatta Bakhtawar in the outskirts of the capital. He said the terrorists wanted to target certain specific places in the Red zone and headquarters of ISI, adding the rehearsal spots of these terrorists were also located. The interior minister further said that according to some reports, ANP leaders were facing threats in Karachi, as some elements did not want political parties to work together for peace. I have talked to police high-ups in Karachi with the direction to ensure strict security measures for the security of ANP leaders, he added. He also said that protest of PML-N against power outages was part of democratic process but these should be peaceful and devoid of violence Replying to a question, he said prayer leaders in mosques of the federal capital were government servants and they would be provided security, if needed.
