Qureshi mulls options to join some other party

LAHORE-Former Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who has been sidelined by PPPs top leadership after Raymond Davis episode, is weighing his options to join some other political party ahead of the upcoming general elections. Once a close aide of President Asif Ali Zardari, the politician from Multan is reportedly in contact with different political parties including PML-N and PTI to secure his political future. PTIs central Information Secretary, Omer Sarfraz Cheema on Thursday confirmed his partys contacts with Shah Mahmood Qureshi while talking to The Nation. He said negotiations were underway with the former Foreign Minister, and if the negotiations succeed, he would be given a respectable position in the party keeping in view his political stature. Cheema further said that PTI leadership will have another round of talks with Shah Mahmood after latters return from abroad to chalk out modalities of his joining the party. In the past few months, Qureshi also had a meeting with PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif, but there has been no follow up meeting between the two leaders after the last one. Now, his interactions with PTI leadership have been established. Meanwhile, Shah Mahmood told a local news channel on Thursday that he was not satisfied with the performance of PPP-led coalition government and might take some decision about his future after consultation with his friends. Though he neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of his joining the PTI, but said that he was weighing his options at the moment.
