ISLAMABAD The Supreme Court on Thursday summoned secretary interior for not paying the compensation amount, as earlier directed by the court, to the families of disappeared persons. A three-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard the cases of disappeared persons. The court also referred the cases of Attiqur Rehman, Dr Abdi Sharif, Mansoor Ahmed and Abdul Karim Mehmood to Judicial Inquiry Commission on missing persons; as there was contradiction in the prosecutors and witnesses statements. The court on Wednesday had sent the cases of Masood Janjua and Faisal Faraz to the inquiry commission, headed by recently retired judge of Supreme Court Justice Javed Iqbal. During the hearing, Additional Attorney General K.K.Agah presented the statements of spy agencies to the bench. He stated that agencies had denied the custody of Attiqur Rehman and others. However Attiqs sister, who was present in the court, informed the bench that former Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat had stated that Attiq was in the custody of agencies. Justice Jawad Khawaja expressing annoyance remarked that Attiq disappeared seven years ago, but the still the law enforcement agencies were clueless on his whereabouts.
