Woman dies of dengue at DHQ

RAWALPINDI - A 35-year-old female patient died from dengue fever at District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) on Thursday, taking this years death toll to three in Rawalpindi Division. Zafreen Bibi, wife of Mumraiz Khan, was brought to DHQ three days before from Daira Khalsa, Kallar Seydan. She was sick for last five days, said doctors. The doctors conducted her serology test and declared her dengue positive. However, her blood samples have been taken and sent to National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad for examination, said doctors adding that they were still waiting for the result. While talking to TheNation, DHQ Supervisor Dengue Ward Dr Abbas Malik said that Zafreen was suffering from dengue fever. He said that her condition was deteriorating on Thursday afternoon as her platelets count reached zero. On the other hand, DHQ Focal Person on Dengue Patient Dr Shahid said that Zafreen has not died of dengue fever rather she was pregnant and suffering from Hepatitis C. Doctors are waiting for report of NIH, he added.
