MIRPUR (AJK): The AJK Accountability Bureau arrested two senior AJK PWD officers on the charges of embezzling Rs97.60 million from the funds of a health project, sources said.

An AJK Accountability Bureau team headed by Director Investigation Sardar Musa Khan rounded up Executive Engineer Building Division Mazher Hussain and SDO Younis Shad from Mirpur for allegedly misappropriating the public money of Rs97.60 million in with connivance of contractor Mian Muhammad Arif in the project of District Headquarters Hospital Palandri, the sources told this scribe.

Preliminary investigations into the alleged scam found the delivery of Rs250 million out of the total Rs284.50 million DHQ Hospital project, which is still under construction, following the inordinate delay in its completion within the stipulated time period, the sources added.

Both the arrested officers were presently posted in Mirpur. The AJK AB team later took them to Muzaffarabad for further investigations. Social and political circles have appreciated AJK Accountability Bureau for nabbing the officials in the corruption charges.

OUP SEMINAR: A conference was held to raise awareness about book reading. As chief guest, Deputy Inspector General Police Dr Khalid Chauhan was the Chief Guest delivered a speech. The Oxford University Press Officials Sohail A Bhatti, Senior Manager and Legal Expert Bilal Haider also addressed the ceremony.

The ceremony was attended among others by the local publishers, book sellers, owners of the private schools and colleges.
