The PML-N will sweep the upcoming elections of the Municipal Corporation Bahawalpur with a landslide and the PTI will face defeat like it had suffered in the Cantonment Board elections.

Minister of State for Interior & Education Engineer Muhammad Balighur Rehman stated while talking to The Nation at the at Walima reception of PML-N MPA Qazi Adnan Farid here the other day.

PML-N leader Hassan Askari Sheikh was also present on the occasion.

To a question, the state minister informed that he and Punjab Minister for Cooperatives Malik Iqbal Channar are one page and would decide PML-N candidates for the Municipal Corporation election next week.

To another question, Mr Rehman said that the PML-N has not yet decided its candidate for the Mayorship of Bahawalpur, adding that the candidate for Chairman District Council Bahawalpur and other key slots would be nominated with the a general consensus of the PML-N lawmakers hailing from Bahawalpur district. The state minister also paid rich tribute to Premier Nawaz Sharif for his "domestic and foreign policies" and said that the PML-N would again emerge victorious in general elections 2018.

Meanwhile, PPP Bahawalpur District President and former MNA Sardar Malik Aamar Yar Warran claimed that the PPP will win the District Council Bahawalpur election in the upcoming local bodies election.

Talking to this correspondent, he stated that in his constituency NA-184, out of 22 district council seats, opposition would get 16 seats. Similarly in Yazman, KhairpurTamewali and Hasilpur tehsils, PML-Q MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema will give surprise to the ruling PML-N.

Mr Warran said that he would organise local bodies convention in Dhorkot soon which would be chaired by Nawab of Bahawalpur Salahuddin Abbasi.

To a question, he denied joining the PTI in near future and expressed his full confidence in the leadership of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The PPP stalwart claimed that next chairman district Council Bahawalpur would be chosen from opposition.
