Rawalpindi - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja visited the routes of main processions of Muharram-ul-Haraam in the city to review the security arrangements, informed police spokesman yesterday.

According to him, RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja paid a detailed visit to all the routes of main processions to check the security arrangements being made by the law-enforcement agencies to guard the mourners.

Earlier, the RPO held a meeting with SP Potohar Division Malik Iqbal in his office at Fawwara Chowk. The SP briefed the regional police chief about the security measures. The RPO directed the police officers to improve security plan to protect the main processions. He said that no negligence would be tolerated and strict action would be taken against the police officers found involved in any kind of security lapse. 

Meanwhile, the city traffic police finalised traffic plan and deputed extra force of wardens for ensuring smooth flow of traffic during Muharram-ul-Haraam.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO)/SSP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said yesterday that all arrangements have been finalised to control vehicular traffic during Muharram days. He said that several diversions and barrier points would be established in the city whereas the wardens would remain active to guide road users. He said that all circle officers, sector in-charges and traffic wardens have been directed to perform their duties devotedly and efficiently to ensure the trouble-free traffic flow.

Shoaib said that the parking of motorcycles, cycles, cars and hand push carts would be completely banned in the routes of all main processions.  He was of view that strict action would be taken against the vehicles moving without proper number plates or having black sheets on mirrors.
