Twin cities administrations finalize comprehensive security plans for Moharram

Rawalpindi: The administrations of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have finalized comprehensive security plans, to ensure peace and order during Muharram.

In Rawalpindi, extra security measures have been agreed upon in view of the Raja Bazar tragic incident in 2013. A special control room has been set up at Race Course Traffic Headquarters to keep close watch on suspected persons, vehicles and motorcycles. No one will be allowed to enter the Muharram procession without proper screening.

CTO Rawalpindi said a comprehensive traffic plan has been prepared and no vehicle or hand cart will be allowed to ply or parked along the route of the procession.

In Islamabad more than 10,000 Police and rangers personnel would be deployed on security of the 177 big and small processions and 909 ‘Majaalis’. The authorities have also decided that strict action would be initiated in case of any provocative/hate speeches and the code of conduct will be strictly implemented.
