LAHORE  -  The General Tyre and Rubber Company of Pakistan Limited (GTR) has rejected all the baseless and misleading impressions given in the story published in “The Nation” headlined “Korean tyre maker enters Pakistan market” on Monday, October 1, 2018.

The spokesperson said “Our products chosen by leading car manufacturers, without any compulsion, are tested and approved in Germany and Japan. GTR is the largest automotive tyre manufacturer in the country producing range of tyres for cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks/buses, tractors, CNG rickshaw and motorcycle tyre.”

The spokesperson said GTR is a quality committed company and gives an undertaking that every tyre manufactured by the xompany bearing its name, serial number and logo is brand new and warranted to be free from defect in workmanship and material.

If a tyre on examination is found to be having some manufacturing defect, the company will either repair it free of cost or make reasonable allowance on pro-rata basis on purchase of new tyre.

It is because of top quality tyres the local manufacturers after all their standards are met assemble cars fitted with GTR tyres.

General Tyre has been awarded ISO -9001-2015, 15014001-2004 and ISO 18001-2007, OSHAS. All the raw materials are purchased from approved list of vendors and checked 100 percent in its laboratory before use. Almost 90 percent of the raw materials are imported.

The tyres are developed to suit the road conditions in Pakistan. For this reason alone, all of our radial tyres have full Cap Ply wrapping that is only used in Ultra High performance UHP tyres abroad. This prevents the steel belt from piercing the tyre causing burst out in uneven road conditions. GTR tyres have thicker side walls to protect the tyre from protruding objects on the roads like cats’ eyes reflectors which are only used in Pakistan as speed breakers. This makes our tyres heavier but we will not compromise on safety.

Continental Tires the Americas LLC and General Tyre and 1 Company Pakistan has renewed their technical partnership for another 7 years. The Royalty Technical Service Agreement was signed this year.

Lastly GTR welcomed the arrival of another tyre plant in Pakistan. Together we will raise our voice against under invoicing and smuggling which is robbing the national exchequer of valuable funds and retarding the growth of the industry in Pakistan.
