ISLAMABAD- The city police claimed to have averted a possible disaster during the Eidul Fitr holidays as the Bomb Disposal Squad defused high explosive bombs planted in an abandoned truck in Rawat, a suburb of the city, police said Monday. According to details, some nine trucks including NATO oil tankers were parked in a parking place near a petrol pump at Rawat. The area falls in the jurisdictions of Sihala Police Station. One of the trucks was planted with two highly explosive bombs in its tyre sparing plates. However, a police constable saw these devices and later informed the area police. On this, a heavy contingent of police led by SP Malik Umer Hayyat rushed to the scene. Later, DIG Operations Bani Amin, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan along with bomb the Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the place and defused the bombs. First of all we cordoned off the area and managed to defuse the bombs beside arresting one suspect from the scene, the SP informed TheNation. To a question the SP said that police was probing into the matter from different angles and Soon we will apprehend the real culprits. The police have rounded up three suspects and we are expecting that all those involved in this act of terrorism would be arrested, he added.
