Rs5m released to CCPO from secret funds

LAHORE The Punjab inspector general of police has approved secret fund of Rs 5 million for the CCPO Lahore either to launch a special operation or to pay the money to the kidnappers of Shahbaz Taseer and the US national. The amount will be released within a day. Sources in the IG office told the secret funds were released for meeting the expenses of investigation into high-profile cases of terrorism, however, independent sources revealed the amount would be used in getting safe release of the abductees. The IGP had sent a summary to the chief minister for releasing Rs5 million to the CCPO from the secret funds but for security reasons it was not mentioned clearly that why the amount was required immediately. However, the CM approved the summary and the central police office issued instructions to release the amount within 24 hours. The sources said the whole transaction was being carried out secretly, adding the amount would be handed over to an informant in Shahbazs kidnapping case and his name would be kept in secret. However, some other sources said the amount had been released for carrying out the spying process and meeting its expenditures.
