FC kills man for resisting body search


QUETTA - Security personnel killed a man for putting up resistance and wounded a passer-by in Quetta on Friday.
Spokesperson for Frontier Corps said security personnel were conducting a routine check-up at crowded Mezan Chowk when they tried to stop a man, identified as Saleem Mustafa, for search. Mustafa offered resistance upon which FC personnel opened fire on him. A passer-by Deen Muhammad was also injured as a result of the firing. Both the injured were rushed to Civil Sandeman Hospital, where Saleem Mustafa succumbed to his injuries. Deen was stated to be stable. Police have registered a case.
Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch meanwhile took a notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry.
Shutter-down strike in Panjgur: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Panjgur district on Friday against the killing of two sons of a religious scholar.
All shops, markets and business establishments remained closed in Panjgour city while traffic plying on the roads was also thin as compared to normal days.
In order to avert any untoward incident local administration had taken strict security measures, however, no unpleasant incident was reported from any part of the district.
Unidentified armed men shot dead Hafiz Zahir and Hafiz Tahir sons of religious scholar and leader of JUI-F Maulana Abdul Qadir in Panjgour town the other day.
