LAHORE - PIA Managing Director Muhammad Junaid Yunus has said that despite fleet constraints the national flag carrier is doing all possible efforts to provide maximum facilities to its valued passengers and the current Haj operation is the proof of it. The Haj operation has been termed very successful as all flights are departing on time. This can also be witnessed in the flight schedule of other flights as well where the punctuality rate is above 90pc.

Referring to the recently held meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, he said that matters relating to betterment of PIA were discussed in detail and all possible venues were explored to bring the airline out of present crisis. In the light of instructions of Prime Minister, the Board of Directors has been entrusted to consider best possible suggestions and chalk out workable plan to make the airline a profitable entity. The BoD’s recommendations will be presented to Government for approval.

To attract business class passengers, Junaid Yunus has instructed all officials to travel in economy class only so that seats remain available for general public. These instructions will be applicable to Managing Director as well. He said that we are already on path of recovery and trying all out efforts to enhance revenues and reduce costs as well.

There has been big saving in expenditures as we have not leased any aircraft for Haj and also maintaining the schedule effectively with existing resources. He vowed to continue with his improvement drive in making the flying experience as convenient and comfortable as possible. “I have issued instructions that no lethargy and indiscipline in the organisation will be tolerated”, he said.
