KARACHI - A group of robbers on Friday looted Rs3.3 million from a private bank branch in Shah Faisal Colony on Friday.

At least three armed culprits barged into Muslim Commercial Bank branch at Shah Faisal Colony No.3 and held two security guards, staff members and customers hostage inside the branch with a warning of dire consequences.

After being informed, police rushed to the site and cordoned off the bank branch for initial investigation. Police took security guards into custody for questioning and obtained the CCTV footages. Police said some armed men, clad in pent shirt and shalwar kameez who were speaking different languages with each other, made three security guards of a private company, deployed at the bank, and other staffers hostage.

Police further said that two guards were deployed inside the bank, however, the third one was positioned in the hiding on the mezzanine floor of the bank. The third guard did not retaliate.

Police said when police interrogated him for not responding, he said the bank manager asked him to separate the bullets from the guns. The robbers took at least five minutes to collect the money from the cash counter and then escaped on motorcycles. Further investigation was underway while no case has been registered.
