ISLAMABAD - Accountability Court (AC)-1 Islamabad on Friday gave 14-day judicial remand of Tauqir Sadiq, the principal accused of the OGRA scam and former OGRA chairman and directed the NAB to send him Adiala Jail.

On Friday, Tauqir was produced before the court after completion of his 67-day physical remand.

NAB on the other side prayed the court to grant judicial remand of the accused and the court ordered for sending Tauqir Sadiq to jail for 14 days judicial remand. 

The counsel for Tauqir Sadiq requested the court to grant (A) class in jail to the accused. However, the court remarked, “let the accused reach jail first and the matter of allowing (A) class in jail will be decided later. NAB sources said that Tauqir will be summoned from jail if it is need.

They also said that physical remand of an accused can be obtained up to 90 days in accordance with the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) 1999.

Talking to media men after hearing of the case, the counsel said that Tauqir had remained a highly professional lawyer and he was promoted as chairman OGRA in grade 20, therefore, he be granted A class in jail by virtue of his educational qualification and office.
