| Saudi and Iranian envoys call on Sharif at Jattiumra

LAHORE  -  Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent a condolence letter to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif upon the sad demise of his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

The Turkish President has expressed grief over the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif passed away on Tuesday in London’s Harley Street Clinic after a prolonged illness.

Begum Kulsoom was under treatment at London’s Harley Street Clinic since June 2014. She was diagnosed with lymphoma (throat) cancer in August 2017.

Following the demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (Retd) Safdar were released from Adiala Jail on parole.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party leaders, workers and supporters are gathering at the Jati Umra residence to pay their condolences to Sharif family on the sad demise of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki called on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umra.

The Saudi Arabian envoy offered condolences to Nawaz Sharif on the demise of former First Lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

Also, Iranian Consular General visited Jati Umra for offering condolences to Nawaz Sharif.

MMA Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also reached Jati Umra to offer condolences to Nawaz Sharif on the death of his wife.

CAA MAKES ARRANGEMENTS TO TRANSPORT KULSOOM’S BODY

The dead body of the late Begum Kulsoom Nawaz will be brought by PIA flight Pk-758 from London to Lahore Friday morning.

It is pertinent to mention here that former first lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz breathed her last in London on September 11. She had been fighting fatal disease of cancer since July 2017.

Aviation Secretary Muhammad Saqib Aziz has issued directions to the CAA and ASF officials to make arrangements for the transportation of the body of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. The PIA fight left London Thursday evening and is going to arrive in Lahore on the morning of Friday (today). The officials concerned in London and Lahore airports have completed arrangements in this regard, said the spokesman for the CAA.

Begum Kulsoom was a brave lady and PML-N workers called her ‘mother of democracy’. They believed she fought dictatorship of former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf very bravely when her husband Nawaz Sharif was jailed on October 12, 1999.

The workers of PML-N and other political parties have been visiting the Sharif family residence at Avenfield House in London and Jati Umra in Lahore since Tuesday to condole her demise.

Former Balochistan chief minister Sardar Sanaullah Zehri and Rasikh Elahi, son of Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, were prominent among those who visited the Sharif family residence at Avenfield House in London.

Former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khurram Dastagir, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, Malik Pervaiz, Saad Rafique, Ameer Muqam, Ali Pervaiz, Uzma Bokhari and Rana Muhammad Iqbal visited Jati Umra in Lahore to offer their condolences.

Hamza Shahbaz, before his departure for London along with his father Shehbaz, was meeting those coming to offer condolences.

PML-N leaders, supporters and well wishers are coming to Jati Umra to offer their condolences to the Sharifs. As to reports that Nawaz Sharif did not see the visitors Wednesday because he was not feeling well, Marriyum Aurangzeb said: “That was not the case. Mian Sahib was shattered and tired, but he met relatives. Similarly, Maryam Nawaz also met relatives.”

Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Capt Safdar, were released from Adiala Jail on 12-hour parole in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Their parole was later extended by the Punjab government for five days on an application moved by Shehbaz Sharif.

The Sharifs were sentenced to jail by an accountability court weeks before the July 25 polls in the Avenfield property reference.
