Solar resources to be used to overcome energy shortage

LAHORE (APP) - Federal Minister for Science and Technology Azam Khan Swati has said that the government has planned to bring energy revolution by using solar resources of the country to overcome energy shortage. He was addressing the members of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) at FPCCIs zonal office here on Tuesday. Zonal Chairman FPCCI Mian Muhammad Idrees, Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, IFtikhar Ali Malik and number of other important personalities were present on the occasion. The minister said that the country is passing through a period of critical shortage of energy and ministry of science and technology has taken the responsibility for working on it to bring a positive change in the country. He said that services of an eminent engineer working in Solar energy have been hired for this purpose to work on ambitious plan of maximum taping the potentials of solar energy in a short span of time. Swati quoting his life examples of becoming billionaire from penny less person said that bringing the country out of challenges is quite possible. He sought help of the industrialists for getting workable plans to modernize science and technology sector in the country and assured them that he would fully patronize all efforts for national interest. Value addition should be main focus of the industrialists in the country which is the only way ahead to get economic boost, he said. He also assured that he would not allow inefficiency and corruption to any one in the departments working under his ministry. Quoting examples of poor performance of PCSIR labs in Karachi which are earning Rs 40 million while amount given to its employees as salary is 750 million, he said that such a departments need to be overhauled. The minister said that he has no political compulsion and he is working for the cause of the country without fear and favour. The minister condemned role of some foreign countries for damaging image of national institutions working for security of Pakistan. Responding to a question, the minister said that the people would start getting benefits of his revolutionary plans in science and technology within 6 months.
