DHAKA (APP) - Bangladesh Tuesday sought increased investment from Pakistan in different fields when newly appointed Pakistani High Commissioner Ashraf Quareshi called on Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad at his office in Dhaka. They discussed political, economic, business, media, cultural and climate issues. Renewal of cultural exchange agreement also came up for discussion. The Minister welcomed the envoy and assured all cooperation during his tenure in the country. He stressed the need for further strengthening relations with Pakistan and sought Pakistani investments in pharmaceuticals, textiles, information technology, telecommunication and agro-based industry. The Pakistani envoy said the friendly relations between the two countries are being consolidated day by day. It is essential to expand areas of cooperation for welfare of the peoples of both Pakistan and Bangladesh, he added. Information Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser and Cultural Affairs Secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun were present, among others, during the meeting.
