MIRANSHAH (AFP) A US drone fired missiles at a car travelling through North Waziristan Wednesday, killing at least four militants, security officials said. The strike is part of a covert US drone war targeting Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked commanders in the northwestern tribal belt, where militants have carved out havens in mountainous areas outside direct government control. It took place at Amboor Shaga village, 25km west of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan, one of seven districts in the tribal belt that shadows the border with Afghanistan. A US drone fired two missiles at a car, a senior Pakistani security official told AFP on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information. Four militants were killed in the missile strike, the official said. Two security officials confirmed the missile strike and death toll. According to BBC, missiles fired from the US drone killed foreign militants in North Waziristan, officials said. A local administration official in Miranshah told the BBC that all the dead and injured were Arab militants.
