MOHMAND AGENCY At least 22 militants were killed and two security personnel martyred in skirmishes in scattered areas of Tehsil Baizi and Tehsil Safi of Mohmand Agency on Thursday. Tribal and official sources said security forces faced stiff resistance in Spera Ghar and other areas of Tehsil Baizi where militants and security forces hit each others positions with sophisticated weapons. Jet fighters and gunship helicopters of security forces also pounded militant hideouts in Wach Kohi, Khili Kor and Soran area, killing 22 militants and injuring 25 others. The clash also left two security personnel dead and 10 others injured. According to official sources, after intense fighting the security forces took control of Spera Ghar checkpost. However, spokesman for Tehrik-e-Taliban, Mohmand chapter, Sajjad Mohmand, claimed that 12 security personnel had been killed in the fight. He said Taliban had pushed back security forces from Spera Ghar trenches. Meanwhile, a mortar shell hit a house in Bedmani area which resulted in the killing of children and injuring others. The house was owned by Ghanam Shah. Another person, Jahangir, was succumbed to his injuries on his way to hospital. Dozens of innocent people have been killed as a result of clashes between security forces and militants.
