LAHORE - First centre in Pakistan was established on Thursday at Services Hospital for the treatment of HIV positive children under the National AIDS Control Programme. Punjab Health Secy Fawad Hassan was briefed in this regard. Programmes provincial coordinator Dr Salman Shahid informed the staff latest diagnostic equipment had been installed at this centre. He added Punjab had become the first province in Pakistan to implement the prevention of parent to child transmission. He said 3 districts - Gujrat, DG Khan and Faisalabad - have been declared as model ones. Moreover, Case Managers have also been appointed at Gujrat and DG Khan for the counselling/treatment of patients, he said.
