ISLAMABAD - Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who is also Chairman of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, on Thursday ordered that the matter of resignation of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Babar Awan be brought to the notice of Principal Secretary to the President and Prime Minister as well as Cabinet Secretary and Secretary, Law and Justice Division for information and further necessary action, as meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan will proceed on April 16 as already scheduled. Following the CJPs directives and in pursuance of the resignation of Babar Awan from the office of Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the JCP Secretary has written a letter to the Principal Secretary to the President and Prime Minster as well as Cabinet Secretary and Secretary, Law and Justice Division pointing out that the meeting of the JCP is scheduled on April 16 for consideration of confirmation and appointment of Additional Judges of Lahore High Court and Balochistan High Court. Under Article 175A (2) of the Constitution, Federal Minister for Law and Justice is a member of the Commission.
