DIR - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Upper Dir, has said that 50 women are among hundreds of people who fill membership forms of the party in the first few days of the campaign.
The drive was launched at Dir Stadium by the party’s leader Farhad Ali Khan where people were shown PTI’s programme on a large screen. Farhad Ali said people were taking interest in getting party’s membership.
He said they had set a target of 40,000 memberships in Upper Dir during the three-month campaign.
He said the membership drive was launched in four union councils of the district including Dir town, Palam, Akhagram and Pashta and would be extended to other union councils of the district in coming weeks.
He claimed 50 women had also filled membership forms in a district that is conservative and where women don’t take part in political activities. Farhad said the members would elect party’s office-bearers at union council, tehsil and district level.
