RAWALPINDI - Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC) has rejected the Parliament’s decision of reopening the NATO supply line to Afghanistan and announced a countrywide protest against the resolution that, according to them, is “un-Islamic”.
The DPC will stage a countrywide protest demonstration against the Parliament’s decision on April 20, 2012. Sit-in on all the routes of NATO supply will also be observed, besides taking out peaceful protest rallies and demonstrations to register its protest in democratic way. This was informed to media by DPC Chairman Maulana Sami-ul-Haq after chairing DPC’s meeting held here on Saturday.
He was flanked by Jammat-ud-Dawa (JuD) Chief Prof Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Jammat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, former DG ISI General (Retd) Hameed Gul, Maulana Muhammad Ahmed Ludyanvi, Dr Abu-al-Khair Muhammad Zubair, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman Khalil, PML (Zia-ul-Haq) President Ijaz-ul-Haq, Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Pakistan Aman Party (PAP) Chairman Haji Gulzar Ahmed Awan, Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Maulana Tayyab Tahiri.
Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, while addressing the press briefing, vehemently denounced the Parliament’s decision and said that that all Ulema and religious leaders dubbed the restoration of NATO supply line for the forces stationed in Afghanistan as a big sin, cruelty and un-Islamic. He called upon the owners and conductors of NATO supply tankers to refuse to do work for USA and join hands with DPC in its protest against the anti-Islamic decision of the Parliament. Maulana also appealed PTI Chairman Imran Khan and leaders of other political parties to go in with DPC in its protest rallies and demonstrations.
Maulana Sami-ul-Haq, while throwing light on the declaration unanimously passed during the meeting, though the rulers used the Parliament to please Washington by taking this decision yet America put this decision on the toe of shoe.
“This move of Parliament also dashed the hopes of 180 million people of Pakistan” DPC Chairman said adding that America also slapped on the face of Parliament by not tendering her apology on Salala check post incident and by not halting drone attacks on tribal belt in which hundreds of innocent Muslim killed.
He alleged that the ruling party, its allies and opposition parties have been used for vested interests of USA saying “All the apprehensions and reservations of DPC proved correct that Parliament sat into the lap of USA by restoring NATO supply line”.
Now the time has come for DPC to break the shackles of American slavery, he said in addition with that NATO supply would be blocked forcefully. He asked the nation participate in protest of DPC to bar the supply of arms and ammunition being transported to Afghanistan for NATO forces to kill innocent Afghan Muslim.
Coming hard on the rulers, DPC Chairman said that Parliament did not discuss Kashmir issue in its resolution which indicated that the rulers scared from India and USA. He said that all the major problems being faced by Pakistan including unrest in Balochistan and sectarian violence in Gilgit-Biltistan could be solved amicably by ending American intervention into internal affairs of the country. Announcing the schedule, Maulana Sami informed that DPC conferences would be held on 15 April in Peshawar while on April 22 in Jhang.
The DPC also offered Fateh for the Jawans of Pakistan army who buried under snow in Gayari sector in Siachen.
