QUETTA - Demanding governor’s rule in Balochistan, different Shia organisations formed a 10-member committee to convene a grand jirga after consultation with Baloch and Pashtun leaders to stop targeted killing of Hazara people.
Addressing a joint press conference here Saturday, Balochistan Shia Conference President Ashraf Zehdi, Shia Ulema Council leader Juma Asadi, Tehreek Jaffaria leader Mehdi Najafi, Qayyum Changezai of Hazara Quomi Jirga and others said targeting Hazara community had become a routine in Quetta and the government had failed to bring the culprits to book. They said unending series of killing of innocent people in Quetta had proved that rulers had nothing to do with the security of people. They said through a conspiracy, different communities living in Quetta were being pushed towards civil war and such elements were “patronised by the government”. They said to restore peace in the city, a grand jirga would be convened after meeting with Baloch and Pashtun leaders. They said they had formed a committee comprising 10 members which would be led by former provincial minister Sardar Sadat Ali Hazara.
