President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the federal government to take steps for setting up of a Saraiki bank in South Punjab. Talking to a delegation of traders and industrialists in Multan on Sunday‚ he said the bank will help give a boost to the trade‚ commercial; and industrial activities in South Punjab besides generating economic activities to create more employment opportunities. The President urged the traders and industrialists of the south Punjab to also extend full support to the government for setting up of Saraiki bank and its success. He said this bank will also help in promoting exports from South Punjab and improving agriculture and commercial sectors in the area. The President assured the delegation that the government t will provide more facilities to enhance fruit exports from south Punjab. Earlier‚ addressing Ulema and religious scholars in Multan President Zardari emphasized that they should play their due role in promoting in religious and social harmony. The president said it is moral obligation of the Ulema to condemn all sort of sectarianism and promote peace and brotherhood in the society. He said Ulema can also play a vital role in overcoming crimes in the society.
